Dear colleagues, We are part of the ETUC campaign launched in March this year, calling for a New Social Deal that gives priority to workers and citizens. This social agenda will have to focus on the main concerns of European citizens: employment, purchasing power and their fundamental rights. The European trade union movement is kicking off this campaign that will include three European days of action from 14 to 16 May 2009 on:
- 14 May in Madrid, Spain ;
- 15 May in Brussels, Belgium;
- 16 May in Berlin, Germany, and Prague, Czech Republic.
In order to ensure the success of these manifestations and EFFAT asks for the support of our affiliates to make the manifestations in Brussels, Berlin, Madrid and Prague successfully with the attendance of all our European affiliates. Our goal is to bring together at least 30,000 demonstrators for each of the four Euro-demonstrations. To meet that goal, it would be very welcomed if you: 1. Would mobilise in the different countries 2. Would approach the political parties to try to influence the political election programs into a workers friendly one.
Additional practical information shall be communicated in the days to come. By now, we can provide you with the poster and leaflet coming from ETUC which you can use. At the Brussels demonstration there will be a general security service for the four Euro-demonstrations .The security service will be provided by our national colleagues from the countries hosting the demonstrations. They will be wearing a reflective jacket (fluorescent yellow with the ETUC logo) and will be present at the demonstration’s strategic locations. EFFAT shall also join the demonstration in Brussels on the 15th May with a banner expressing: “Social justice from farm to fork-fight precarious work!
Thank you for your support,
